Class Levels and Study Hours

The completion of Beginner-2 is equivalent to JLPT-N4 (CEFR-A2), and the completion of Intermaediate-2 is equivalent to JLPT-N3 (CEFR-B1).
The study period during Advanced-1 level, UIEC offers exam preparation class up to the higher level JLPT-N1 (CEFR-C1), at the same time.
The completion of Adbanced-1 is equivalent to JLPT-N2 (CEFR-B2), Advanced-2 is equivalent to JLPT-N1 (CEFR-C1).
Depending on the placement test at the time of admission, some students may start at Beginner 2 or Intermediate 1.

*The curriculum of beginner level differs depending on each class, so the start time of intermediate level also may be different from each class.

During the beginner level, comprehensive textbook to learn the four skills of “listening, reading, speaking and writing” is used, it builds the foundation of Japanese. During the intermediate level, comprehensive textbook and grammar materials to prepare for exams are used.
During Advanced 1, in addition to comprehensive textbook and grammar materials, elective classes on exam preparation that are higher level than the actual learning level of textbook will be held two days a week.
